The entire cave system is over 12 km long, but the standard tour only leads through a small part of the cave and takes about 45 minutes. The huge stalactites, which take 100 years to grow 1cm, suggest that the cave must be over 5 million years old. The ancestors of the Georgians lived here together with cave bears in the past.
