It all began in 1975 when Andrew Ritchie began designing a folding bike in his flat overlooking Brompton Oratory in South Kensington, London. Since then, Brompton has become synonymous with folding bikes. Small, compact, robust - these are the characteristics that have always characterized a Brompton, still made in the British capital. The bikes on 16-inch wheels travel free of charge as hand luggage on local transport and can be folded up from normal size to just slightly larger than your own 16-inch tires in no time at all. The small tires offer a stable and agile riding experience, and three handlebar variants also offer different options for different body sizes. Not much has changed in the original design since the beginning, the technical details have of course been continuously revised, so that since 2016 we have also been offering an e-bike, the Brompton Electric.
