Bikepacking Sweden 2022 (coast2coast2coast)

Another (long) week of bikepacking through mindblowing Sweden.

My Specialized Diverge, packed with the bare essentials and some less essential, but nice to take with you, things, drove me through some really marvelous sceneries.

I drove a mix of quiet tarmac roads and especially even more quiet gravelroads and forest tracks. Sometimes my planning in Komoot was a little bit too enthousiastic which resulted in some hike-a-bikes 😁. Mostly I was on a not too intensive cruiser speed mode and just enjoyed nature with the relaxing sound of crispering gravel under my tyres and scanning the forest boundaries for mooses, who again didn't want te been seen.

Distances where very doable and most of the days I set up my camp in the early afternoon, so I had quite some time for a swim, just some lingering, contemplating life, a beer and a walk.

Shelter places were again my favourite campsites this week. Really great for bikepacking! Just put your tent next to the wooden shelter (or don't and put your sleeping mat in the shelter off course) and have some extra comfort when rain comes down or when you want some extra shade. Very handy; the shelters are very well traceable with Komoot. One time I was all alone in the shelter (and it felt like all alone in the whole area) and the other times there were some more happy campers, which sometimes wasn't that nice (screaming and shouting in the middle of the night, but sometimes there has been been made friendships as well! Besides the shelters I took a couple of campsites that were very nice located as well and gave the opportunity of a shower, an ice-cream and recharging the powerbank.

I really can't think of a better country for gravel bikepacking than Sweden. The nature, the mystical forests, the lakes, the endless gravel roads, the many shelters, the "allemansrätten", the friendly people, the peacefull houses in the middle of nowhere and the delicious sweet bakery snacks.
