The Bavarian Forest is a wonderful holiday destination for families. As the area is sparsely populated, there’s plenty of space for nature and thus plenty of room for your children to explore. The forest has a lot to discover, especially in the region of the national park, such as picturesque mountain lakes, exciting gorge trails, and diverse forest animals. At the Höcker Kinderparadies holiday apartments near Grafenau, families are in good hands. Here, you can enjoy a child-friendly farm stay combined with a hiking holiday.
In this Collection, we present seven beautiful hikes that are well suited to little feet or even a pram. The routes are not that long and there is plenty of variety along the way. The times given only refer to the walking time so be sure to plan a little longer so that the young hikers can take time to explore.
Not far from the Höcker Kinderparadies, you can walk around a reservoir and explore the fantastic Steinklamm Gorge. There is also an exciting nature trail with a large forest playground nearby. The well-known Großer Arber, the highest peak in the Bavarian Forest, is also a nice destination for families. The mountain is just as impressive from below and you can walk around a beautiful lake at its foot. At Ludwigsthal village, you can go on an adventurous walk through wolves, lynx, and wild horses’ enclosures, and visit a reconstructed stone age cave. A trip to the boulders in the forest by Steinernen Kirchlein. On a hike to Wagensonnriegel, you can enjoy particularly beautiful views.
And what about after the hike? There is plenty to experience at Höcker Kinderparadies too.
At the organic farm, the goats are waiting for you to stroke them and the ponies are looking forward to going for a ride. There are lots of toys both indoors and outdoors. The little ones can jump on the trampoline to their heart’s content or take a tractor ride. In the evening, you can sit around the campfire telling stories. As your eyes get heavy, your bed in the cosy holiday apartment is waiting for you.
As a guest at Höcker Kinderparadies, you get the National Park Card with the GUTi symbol. This allows you to use all buses and trains in the national park region free of charge. From Monday to Saturday, a bus takes you directly from Habernberg, i.e. right outside the door of the Kinderparadies, to Eppenschlag or Schönberg. You can find the timetables and other information (in German) here: bayerwald-ticket.com/bus-und-bahn-im-nationalpark.
The Bavarian Forest and the Höcker Kinderparadies offer the perfect mix of adventure, discovery and relaxation. The whole family will feel at home here! If your children are good on their feet and up for a longer hike, you can find other options here: komoot.de/user/ferienregionnationalparkbayerischerwald/collections.
