Keep on Hiking!!!

mobil.nrw/ziel/ueber-80-wanderrouten-in-nrw/details/auf-den-spuren-der-pilger.htmlHighlight of the tour: The striking building, designed by the museum builder Professor Josef Paul Kleihues, is still in the starting point of the hike and has developed into a popular museum and cultural institute over the years. Since the late 1990s, it has housed the year-round crib museum.Description of the hiking tour
Over 150,000 pilgrims come to Telgte every year, the starting point of this hike, which leads through one of the most beautiful nature reserves on the Ems. Mighty oaks - including a 1000-year-old one - as well as a pasture landscape interspersed with many bodies of water offer hikers a particularly beautiful piece of nature.
It all starts in Telgte, the city known from G├╝nter Grass' novel "Meet in Telgte". The place itself has many sights worth visiting. The X15 hiking trail starts at the Kornbrennerei-Museum and leads north to Westbevern. Once the federal highway 51 has been crossed, it becomes much quieter on the route and the hikers will soon find themselves in a picturesque nature reserve. Here the Bever and Ems still flow very naturally with steep banks, regular bank breaks and typical aquatic vegetation such as water lilies and spawning herbs. Many rare animal and plant species, including kingfisher and cotton grass, can be admired up close. Shortly before the Bever flows into the Ems, the idyllic water mill at Haus Langen is reached. It is one of the most concise typical M├╝nsterland double systems.Immediately in front of the mill, the two hiking trails X15 and X4 converge and only separate again after Westbevern, a district of Telgte, which is reached after a good kilometer.Special focal points there are the neo-Gothic parish church Cornelius and Cyprianus with its Romanesque tower and the village granary from the 17th century with a towering peak. Shortly after the village center of Westbevern, the two hiking trails separate, the X15 turns left, but our path continues on the X4 and ends after another three kilometers in Ostbevern. Here, hikers can take the bus to Ostbevern train station or back to Telgte.Additional information
Telgte is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the M├╝nsterland. One reason for this is the baroque pilgrimage chapel Beatae Mariae Virginis. In the middle of the 17th century it was commissioned by the Prince-Bishop of M├╝nster, Christoph Bernhard von Galen, and built by Father Jodokus L├╝ke. The result is an octagon, an octagonal central building which is vaulted by a dome. The chapel is surrounded on the outside at the corners by eight columns, which are crowned by Corinthian capitals. A miraculous image carved from poplar wood is kept in the chapel. It dates back to the 14th century and is the main attraction for pilgrims in Telgte.

mobil.nrw/ziel/ueber-80-wanderrouten-in-nrw/details/unterwegs-auf-dem-emsquellen-wanderweg.htmlHighlight of the tour: The Emsquellen. The headwaters of the Ems were renatured in 1994. This means that there is not a spring enclosed by a metal pipe, but a wet area in which the water emerges from the ground. The Emsquellen area is very nicely designed, with wooden walkways, many information boards and a covered picnic area. It is always an uplifting moment to stand at the source of a longer river: here is the source!Description of the hiking tour
We start at the H├Âvelhof train station and walk through Bahnhofstrasse, leaving the train station (the gate to the Senne) behind us. On Schlo├čstra├če we then hike right to the roundabout, then continue half right on Bielefelder Stra├če. We cross the railroad tracks, after the level crossing we turn right into the forest. We follow our marking of the Emsquellen hiking trail and enjoy the forest paths. Just before we leave the wood, it becomes almost alpine. In the Hasendorfer dunes it goes up and down on narrow paths.
We continue walking on the old Bielefelder Landstrasse. In the past there was a lot of activity on this road with horses and carts, nowadays the carts with the many horsepower drive on the nearby A33 motorway. We go right and cross the autobahn and shortly afterwards we reach the valley of the young Ems by walking left / right. We enjoy a great path upstream, which is great fun. Finally we arrive at the information center of the Emsquellen and finally reach the Emsquellen in the area of Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock.We continue to walk through the heathland of the Senne. Especially in late summer, the heather glows in a splendid purple. We are walking on partly difficult terrain, the surface of the path is very sandy. This connects the region of the Emsquellen with the region of the Ems estuary, i.e. the North Sea beach - neither at the source nor at the estuary is stingy with sand. We hike back and forth through the Senne until we cross the A33 motorway again on a bridge. On the next few kilometers through the H├Âvelhofer districts of Hasendorf and Bentlake, we walk along some paved roads. But you have the alternative of walking along the way on soft ground. Behind Bentlake, a narrow path leads along the Krollbach, which takes 480 kilometers across the Lippe and Rhine to flow into the North Sea.Behind the school center we walk through the Verri├Ęres park (the name is derived from the friendship between H├Âvelhof and Verri├Ęres-le-Buisson) with a small pond and soon see the railway tracks and the H├Âvelhof train station again. Conclusion: a flat, but very varied and interesting hike through the Senne.Hiking map as PDF

Almost 50 years ago the game park of the city of Warstein was opened in Bilsteintal. You can experience seven typical forest animals in the wildlife park. The wildlife park is freely accessible all year round, day and night, admission is free!Dogs allowed on a leash. The wildlife park and its animal species:
+++ Sika deer: A specialty of the Arnsberg Forest - the sika deer actually native to East Asia.
+++ Wild boar: impressive and well-fortified animals.
+++ Red deer: The "King of the Forests", the largest native game species.
+++ Skudden: An old domestic animal breed - The East Prussian Skudden. You will find the sheep on the so-called "cave sports field" and in summer as "landscape maintenance" on various locations, especially around the Bilsteinfelsen.
+++ Raccoons: These animals have also been found in our forests (and cities) for almost 100 years, the raccoons, which actually come from North America.
+++ Fox: The shy hunter is seldom seen in the wild, but you can study him in peace in the wildlife park.
+++ Lynx: For several years now, the lynx has been on the rise through reintroduction and immigration. In the Arnsberg Forest, too, there are repeated references to wild lynx.

The Golden Path brings you back to the bottom of nature. "Doctor Nature" is at work here when you hike, experience and internalize the ten stations of the Golden Path.
This circular hiking trail leads around five kilometers over the Niedersfelder Hochheide, which lies at the foot of the Langenberg.
The encounter with nature often feels like a journey into your own self. The prerequisite for this is to get involved in the landscape with time and mindfulness. To make it easier for you to focus on yourself and nature, the stations are designed in such a way that they, the landscape and nature are destroyed as little as possible.
Each station has its own theme, which is introduced with the name of the station. Different representational and verbal suggestions stimulate an interactive relationship to the landscape.
      Directions:
You can get to the Golden Path by following the signs for "Hochheide". You can find this in the center of Niedersfeld, directly on the B480. The driveway to the Hochheide is right in the center of the village.
