We were inspired for this tour by the Rother hiking guide. The Bardenas Reales Natural Park is a semi-desert in the south of Navarre. The landscape consists largely of ocher-colored clay. This is the remnant of a prehistoric sea that gradually silted up due to the tectonic uplift of the Iberian plate.
