Rheinburgenweg 2021

Today we started our new project "Rheinburgenweg". After the Rheinsteig you first think that it will be hard to beat. The first stage of the Rheinburgenweg was able to keep up with the top stages of the Rheinsteig.

Our second stage on the Rheinburgenweg was again worth seeing, varied and interesting, maybe a tad less than the first stage in all.



The forest portion of this stage was about 5%, today it was mostly over meadows and fields or over rocky ascents and descents to the castles.

One of those hiking days ... at 5:45 in the morning, it's hard to imagine being able to get up. The legs and feet still ache from the exertions of the past days of hiking and the body rebels when trying to get up. You grit your teeth, throw yourself into your hiking outfit, pack your rucksacks, lace… leggi altro

Today we wanted to reduce kilometers and vertical meters a little. In the end it was on a rather unspectacular stage - compared to the first three stages - then again 20 km and over 500 hm.



Exactly one section of the route was spectacular today: the Mittelrhein via ferrata, which we completed as an alternative… leggi altro

A stage that could only be "saved" by the last 3 km (Winninger vineyards). Until then there was a very nice path for the first 3.5 km (parallel to the Wolfsdelle dream path), but then a very tough 16 more kilometers, before the path from km 20, with the views of the Moselle, became more interesting again… leggi altro

After the spontaneous excursion to the Eifelsteig, the continuation of the RBW was on the program today.



Winningen was the highlight again today, but it is also important to mention the very beautiful and interesting way to Andernach-Miesenheim from a rural (economic) point of view. I think today we encountered… leggi altro

A stage of the RBW that was once again able to seamlessly tie in with our first four stages. Even today, the "path" would have deserved the name "Steig" 😆

Originally we had planned the completion of the Rheinburgenweg for the middle / end of July 2021, then came July 14th and the hours of heavy rain that made the Ahr rise so dramatically that this mostly rather inconspicuous river devastated the entire Ahr valley and became a disaster area made.
