Westweg ♦️

First stage on the Westweg: it starts from Pforzheim at the Kupferhammer at the Golden Gate. In the south-west of the city we take the high-altitude variant over the Enzstiege and further uphill to Birkenfeld. The high path runs beautifully in the forest above the Enz to Neuenbürg. The second stage on the western route from Neuenbürg via Dobel to the upper Geistal near Bad Herrenalb was tough. In Neuenbürg, behind the pectin factory, a long, steep climb took us up to the Schwanner Warte on Westweg. Then on good forest roads over to Dobel. We start the third stage on the Westweg by bus from Bad Herrenalb up to the upper Geistal. This is where the access to the Westweg starts at the Hahnenfalzhütte. The 4th stage of the Westweg was all about the long ascent. From the town hall in Forbach it goes long and steeply up to the Wegscheidhütte. Then flatter past the Schwarzenbachtalsperre and again steeper up to the Bühler Höhe (1002 m). The Friedrichsturm can be seen from afar.

Our 5th stage on the Westweg starts at the Hochkopfstub. I would like to recommend eating and sleeping there. After the early thunderstorm we hike in the fog until noon. We also experience the large grind landscape on the Hornisgrinde (1160 m) in the fog. Nevertheless, the tour is fun.

Westweg 6th stage: Today we enjoy a wonderful, promising hike with only day luggage. We have booked a hotel for 2 nights and bridge the stages with good bus connections.

A stage of work with only a few prospects. We take the approach from the Kniebis hut. There is a Westweg gate there. The path meanders in a very interesting way through grinds and forests to the Hilda hut. Then long paths follow up to the Lettstädter Höhe.

8th and for the time being last stage on the Westweg. After spending the night in the Brandenkopfhütte (940 m), first climb the observation tower.

We start in Hausach, our weekly destination a year ago. There is a steep uphill climb at Husen Castle. After an hour it starts to rain 🌧 and only stops after 3 hours ☹️. So: full fairing. And ventilate every now and then 💨.

Jaaaaa 🤗 Today we stayed dry ⛅️. The hiking trails from the Gasthaus Kalte Herberge to Titisee were sometimes quite muddy. We leave Titisee and hike up along the lake. Then a few muddy forest paths further we reach the disk rock with a beautiful view of Hinterzarten. After a short up and down, it goes over to the Emil-Thoma-Weg in the direction of Feldberg.

Today our hike on the Westweg should only take a short stage. We started at the Wiedener Eck and walked over the Krinne to the Belchen summit. Today, as yesterday, we moved on very well-known terrain, because we have already walked many mountains and paths in the southern Black Forest.

Last tour of our western route. We hike from Kandern to Weil am Rhein or Haltingen. On the way, we first like the Wolfsschlucht near Kandern very much. Great rocks, the Westweg goes right through! ⛰
