"The Klingenberg dam is a dam in the Free State of Saxony. It serves the drinking water supply of Dresden and large parts of the former Weißeritzkreis, the flood protection and to a small extent the generation of energy. The dam was built from 1908 to 1914 near Klingenberg in the foothills of the Eastern Ore Mountains based on an architectural design by Hans Poelzig (commissioned in 1914) and was initially given the name of the last Saxon king: Friedrich-August dam. The dammed water is the Wilde Weißeritz. Its construction was part of a flood protection concept, which was implemented after the devastating flood of 1897 by the district administration Dresden-Altstadt under the direction of district administrator and dam commissioner Arnold Streit. During the construction, a narrow-gauge train was built from Klingenberg-Colmnitz station to the construction site, which ran from 1911 to 1914. Today the Höhenweg runs on its route over the match bridge. "- de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talsperre_Klingenberg
