Naturschutzgebiet zwischen Nägelstedt und Großvargula

This beautiful stretch runs parallel and sometimes very close to the Unstrut, which flows in this area in several loops still in their original riverbed. On the northern side protects a former vineyard, the bank area is lined with pollarded willows and dense bank vegetation, which provides valuable protection especially insects and birds. 35 species of butterflies can be found in the nature reserve. There are in the middle of the section and on the outskirts of Großvargula several clean seating areas, which invite you to linger. Here you should take a break. :-)

Very nice section, here you can relax at a break times. Meanwhile, the extended points of the way were gravel, which is not necessarily beneficial to the driving experience.

Gorgeous original landscape, very beautiful

We have driven this route several times a beautiful nature is better there is hardly any.

Pure biodiversity in the NSG such as. the bag tit, the blue-black wooden bee, the smooth snake, the reversible neck and the red-backed shrike.
The NSG covers 192.6 hectares.
The protected section of the Unstrut Valley is steep and deeply cut into the gently rolling landscape. Here the Unstrut, which in this area still has a largely natural river bed, flows in several loops through the valley.
Endangered plant communities, insects and numerous species of birds settle here.
Besides the Unstrut, other valuable biotopes belong to the NSG.

The bike path leads through rustic, wild and romantic nature. Even if you pay close attention to the slopes, you can take in the impressions for yourself. It is impressive that there is still such untouched nature.

After the day of constant rain yesterday I still had a good trip on a touring bike 👍. Although it is very humid in the shady area after Großvargula, I did not find it slippery. I wouldn't have expected that.

A wonderful piece of bike path. Even two days after heavy rain, the area is super passable with a touring bike.
