The city of Wuppertal is not only known as a Bergisch metropolis due to its old industrial culture, it also has numerous nature reserves that make you forget the street noise and cityscape. It was not for nothing that part of the area was once called "Bergisch Nice". Today one encounters not only the relics of old handicraft businesses and the Ronsdorf dam natural or near-natural unspoilt areas of flowing water, wet meadows rich in sedges and rushes, spring areas, alluvial forests, species-rich poor meadows and pastures, reed beds and small-scale dwarf shrub heaths. In between, there are excursion restaurants that invite you to take a break.
