Přísečnice (German Preßnitz was an old mining town in the Ústecký kraj in the Czech Republic.) Following a decision to build the Preßnitz dam, the town was subsequently relocated and abandoned.
The old pass Preßnitz, first mentioned in 1335 as oppidium (town), received in 1340 under King John of Bohemia a mint in which Bohemian groschen, the so-called brake, with the words: "Johannes primus Dei gratia Rex Bohemiae" were coined. Emperor Charles IV gave the rule over the place the lords of Schönburg on Hassenstein. At the beginning of the 15th century, it became the property of the Lobkowitz family. In 1533 the counts Hieronymus and Lorenz Schlick acquired the rule Preßnitz. Silver mining flourished among the mud.The Bohemian and Roman-German King Ferdinand I, who was from 1545 new owner of Preßnitz, raised the place a year later to the royal free mountain town.In the course of the Thirty Years War Preßnitz and the surrounding area was the scene of a significant fighting between Swedish and imperial troops: The Swedes under Johan Banér were - pursued by imperial cavalry regiments - on the shortest route over Bohemian territory to Saxony on the road and moved on 17 Marchjul / March 27, 1641greg. from Kaaden on the pass to the Erzgebirge. On the ridge came to the Battle of Preßnitz. Banér lost about 4000 men, which corresponded to nearly a third of the troop strength. (Source Wikipedia)
