One country, two seas. If you are traveling in Schleswig-Holstein, you can choose whether you are more the North Sea type or the Baltic. Both coasts have their own charm and are simply beautiful. In this Collection, we have put together seven beach walks in northern Germany which bring you to the most beautiful beaches and can be perfectly combined with a long day at the sea. From sandy beaches to green fields and pebbled crags – the coast offers spectacular varied scenery. While the North Sea welcomes you mostly with a rougher climate, dikes and sheep, walking along Baltic Sea from pier to pier, you will pass miles of sandy beaches.
The routes vary in length, from a relaxed walk to a short hike. Sturdy shoes are recommended, so leave your flip-flops in your beach bag for the time being. All routes are great for children and lead you past beach cafes and beautiful beaches. And best of all: you can leave your car at home and arrive easily by train. The routes always start and end at a station where you can catch a DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein train. The Schleswig-Holstein ticket lets you use the train all day with up to four other people through the country – great for the climate and your wallet.
Do not forget your swimwear and sunscreen to make the most of discovering the northernmost country’s coasts with your friends and family. Whether you choose the North or Baltic Sea, a short break by the sea is always a great idea. And, for that you do not have to drive far, but just get on the regional train.
