Two coasts, two countries and between them beautifully varied landscapes: a long march that stretches for miles without elevation to the horizon and is crisscrossed by straight, idyllic trails. The picturesque Geest, with its inland dunes and the enchanting heathland, is an absolute dream especially at the time of flowering, while the beautiful beaches invite you to in for a swim along the coast.
The long-distance cycle route "Border Route" winds 80 miles (130 kilometers) along the German-Danish border region. I have divided the ride into three stages so that you can ride it comfortably over a long weekend. Starting at the North Sea, countless curves will take you across the border a total of 13 times, while over the course of three days you will be able to explore the beautiful region around the borderline, which offers a wide variety of natural landscapes.
The start of the cycle path is in Højer in Denmark. The best way to get there is by train and bus. You can take the train to Tønder and then change to the bus to Højer. Alternatively, you can cycle the 8 miles (13 kilometers) from the railway station to the starting point of the border route. On the way, you will find various accommodation options and attractive leisure activities in the individual stage destinations. In Flensburg, the destination of the ride, you have a connection to the train to get back home comfortably.
If you would like to take a circuit to get back to the starting point, you can also take the approximately 43-mile (70-kilometer) long Nord-Ostsee-Radweg back as an "express route". It connects the two coasts directly with each other. At the end of the Collection, I present you this route for the way back.

Dopo aver apprezzato a fondo il viaggio dal nord al Mar Baltico sulla rotta di confine in tre giorni, ora è possibile tornare sulla pista ciclabile del Mar Baltico settentrionale, la cosiddetta rotta rapida.
