Imagine cycling through idyllic vineyards and picturesque winegrowing villages, with vines growing to your right and the Rhine Valley on your left. In this Collection, we present the brand new Baden Wine Cycle Path in the sunny southwest of Germany. In eight stages, you ride from Grenzach municipality on the Swiss border through the five Black Forest wine regions. You cycle from Markgräflerland to the Kaiserstuhl and Tuniberg hills, to the regions of Breisgau and Ortenau, before riding through Kraichgau to Laudenbach on the Badische Bergstraße winegrowing region.
We’ve divided the 285-mile (460-km) route into eight stages ranging in length from 25 to 50 miles (40 to 80 km). Rated medium to difficult, some of the stages are more challenging as they include lots of climbing. However, the paved roads make it easier to conquer the hills. You’ll experience the very heart of the wine country as you climb countless hills and cycle through vineyards. As you ride, you are rewarded by breathtaking panoramas over the Black Forest and across the Rhine Valley to the Vosges. If you would like a little help up the hills, why not consider an e-bike; the routes are well-set up for them.
In the small towns and villages of Baden which lie en route, you can tuck into delicious specialties at the countless restaurants. Why not stop off at one of the Straußwirtschaften, traditional wine restaurants, which are dotted throughout the region. Here, you can try a rustic vesper and delicious wines.
The Baden Wine Cycle Path is also brimming with cultural highlights such as the Corkscrew Museum in Vogtsburg-Burkheim, the Baden Wine Cellar in Breisach, and various small, local wine museums. The medieval towns, castles, and half-timbered houses en route are also especially charming.
The region has excellent transport connections so you can easily take the train to and from your adventure. Most of the stage destinations also have stations so you can easily shorten the stages or ride just part of the route. There’s plenty of accommodation in the towns en route ranging from campsites to guesthouses and luxury hotels. Just make sure you book in advance so you are well-prepared for your adventure.
After the first stage, you can choose between two options. The main route takes you west around the Kaiserstuhl, not far from the Rhine, or alternatively you can ride through the lively university town of Freiburg (komoot.de/tour/174226397). If you can't get enough of the Black Forest, we have lots more collections for you here: komoot.de/user/schwarzwaldtourismus/collections.
More and more people want to explore and experience the impressive nature in the Black Forest — whether by hiking, by cycling or on a mountain bike. But we as humans are only guests here in the Black Forest — and the animals and plants are our hosts. That's why #RespectForNature is mandatory for all nature lovers, because only with respect we'll preserve the Black Forest in its beauty for our descendants.
You can find out more about the #RespectForNature initiative on our profile page komoot.com/user/schwarzwaldtourismus or at schwarzwald-tourismus.info/erleben/wandern/respekt.

Come sempre, ci…
