Idyllic moorlands, wide meadows and lush pastures. Cozy villages, charming farms and vibrant towns with maritime flair. The Wesermarsch combines urban life with tranquillity, serenity and pure nature. Water is a constant companion: Jade and Weser and of course the North Sea with its enchanting mudflat landscape give this region in northern Germany its very special character, which you can experience very well by bike. 520 miles (840 kilometers) of well-developed cycle paths run through the Wesermarsch, which was not awarded the "RadReiseRegion" by the ADFC for nothing. Over the course of the ten rides in this Collection, you'll get to know the marsh, moor and sea of this great region.
Between 15 and 30 miles in length (25 and 50 kilometers), the rides featured here are ideal for occasional cyclists and families with children. Not only because they are relatively short: The Wesermarsch is a real cycling paradise. The cycle path network is very well developed and you mainly ride on well-asphalted cycle paths and sometimes on quiet farm roads and side roads. But above all, it is flat here — perfect for relaxed rides with a high enjoyment factor. Apropos: In the Wesermarsch, a specialty of Lower Saxony and Schlewsig-Hostein awaits you. In the so-called Melkhüs, countrywomen from the region serve you milk specialties from local farms. There is at least one Melkhus along each of the Tours, so you can refresh and fortify yourself with a glass of fresh milk, a quark dish or homemade cake. And there's still plenty more to discover: ancient windmills, historic ships, impressive dikes or interesting museums — you won't get bored on the Wesermarsch.
The Wesermarsch is not only ideal for single day trips, but also for a longer cycling holiday. With a little creativity, you can even combine the routes and build a longer stage trip. The range of accommodation available in this cyclist-friendly region is abundant and you are always flexible on the way thanks to a good local public transport network. You can also travel by train. There are particularly good connections to Bremen, Berne, Elsfleth, Hammelwarden and Brake.
