The Glemmtal Valley in the Austrian region of Salzburg is a mountain world straight from the pages of a picture book. With its endless possibilities for exploring on two wheels, the region is well-known and loved among cycling circles and has made a name for itself as a mountain biking destination especially. Year after year, the countless trails of all difficulty levels attract bikers from all over the world. However, Saalbach also has great opportunities for other types of cycling. This is especially true for gravel biking – which is why we bring you a mix of our favourite Tours here.
When gravel bikes – an evolved and developed version of established cyclocross bikes – appeared a few years ago, no one knew whether this type of bike would be a passing fad. In the time since, however, it’s become clear that the bikes are here to stay and are a super addition for many cyclists who previously only rode in one discipline. Racing cyclists are happy to no longer be limited to roads alone and mountain bikers enjoy being able to break the 30 kph (18.6 mph) barrier on the flat.
With its large network of bike paths, gravel roads and quiet lanes, the Pinzgau district offers picturesque landscapes that are perfect for your long rides. We present eight beautiful Tours in this Collection. Among them are highlights such as the Glocknerrunde, a Tour over the Filzensattel pass or a detour into neighboring Tyrol.
Apart from biking, Saalbach-Hinterglemm has everything for a perfect summer holiday. You can tuck into regional delicacies at the mountain huts and alpine pastures. On your ‘off day’ you can take the gondola up to spare your calves for your upcoming adventures.
In the bike park, you can find something suitable for every skill level. It’s also possible to rent a bike in Saalbach. Despite the multitude of activities, it’s still possible to find peace and solitude in Saalbach’s mountains and forests.
To travel in an environmentally friendly way, take a look at the savings tickets from ÖBB and DB transport companies. You can, for example, reach the Glemmtal valley from Zell am See train station with bus 680. Some accommodation places even offer an arrival ticket which you can use on the bus from the station for free. Otherwise, you can book a holiday shuttle. In Glemmtal itself, the Joker Card, which is included in stays at most accommodations, allows you to use local buses for free. Accommodation in the region is very broad. As well as varied hotels, you can find cozy guesthouses, apartments and rustic huts so you can experience your time in Saalbach as you like.
If you feel like getting on your MTB between your gravel Tours or hiking up to one of the alpine pastures, take a look at our other Collections: komoot.de/user/saalbach/collections.

A 2.571 metri…
